1963 GRETSCH Chet Atkins Country Gentlema, Model #6122, Serial Number 57477. Built in Gretsch's Brooklyn NY plant around September 1963.
It is in excellant condition. There is some wear as you might expect, but over all and considering it's age, I would rate it ~ 8 out of 10.
This IS the real deal: 'Made ln the USA', Brooklyn, NY, from back in the day, NOT a modern copy or off-shore re-issue.
About the Bridge:
Almost from day 1, the Gretsch 'Rocking Bar' bridge was replaced by a new Gibson 'Tune-O-Matic' adustable bridge allowing for proper intonation...
About the Neck:
Ebony fingerboard, 22 Frets, mother-of-pearl half moon fret markers, joins body at 14th fret...
About the Tuners:
Original, Grover Imperial 150 gold machine heads/tuners with 'stair-step' buttons.... 24K gold plating... From Cleveland, Ohio, USA. Gear ratio 16:1 ... Smooth as butter...
About the Case:
The HSPL case is the original. Still in very good condition... The vinyl matches the vinyl used by Gretsch for the Country Gentleman #6160 guitar amplifier...
Original paper work and tags:
Included, all original paperwork and tags as per pic included here...
Operation:
Everything works as designed: All controls and switches function smoothly with no 'scratchiness' or 'crackling'; the Bigsby Tremolo works and the Grover 150 tuners work as designed.
Date:
Serial number 57447 will confirm this guitar was built in 1963.
